The Seed | Student Short Film

Role: Sound Recordist, Actor, Editor

Original objectives

The Seed was designed to tell an environmental story from the point of view of a seed. The goal was to show how small human actions can have a bigger impact, while balancing peaceful, chaotic and humorous moments.

Development process

Some shots changed during production because the original ideas were difficult to film. A skateboard camera movement became handheld, the seed became a pea so it was easier to see, and a planned drone shot had to be replaced because of location restrictions.

Critique of final outcome

The final film communicated the journey clearly and the voiceover added personality and humour. The music and sound choices helped shape the mood, although some scenes could have used more layered sound effects and more consistent lighting.

What I learned

This project taught me the value of backup plans, location checks and strong post-production sound. I also learned that helping outside my assigned role can improve the whole production.
